Waxing

Why should I choose Waxing?

Women of today choose to remove hair from all areas of their bodies for many reasons. Waxing is an ideal way of combating this unwanted hair from all areas including legs, arms, underarms, abdomen, bikini line, lips, chin and eyebrows. A wax treatment is fast and effective, with minimal sensitivity (no more than a plaster being quickly removed -
a quick smart and it’s all over!) and a smooth clean finish, that lasts approximately one month. The more regularly that you have your waxing treatment done and after just a few months you will begin to notice that your hair growth appears to be less and the hairs themselves appear to grow finer and not so dark. Many often find that their hair growth diminishes considerably after several years of waxing.

So what are the advantages of Waxing vs. Shaving?

The warm wax enables the hair follicle to open, allowing the hair to be smoothly pulled from the root. The hair has to therefore grow underneath the skin before it is visible above the skin’s surface.

Each time the hair is removed the hair root becomes weaker, discouraging further regrowth.

All hairs grow at different rates; because of this the full hair growth is not noticed altogether, again giving the appearance of a finer growth.

When a hair grows in its natural state (i.e. from the root following waxing), it naturally grows with a point on it. This also gives the appearance that the hair is finer and softer to touch. When a hair has been shaven it is cut with a blunt finish at the skins surface. This gives a shadow over the hair making it look darker as well as feeling coarser. The hair also appears to grow back more quickly as it is only growing from the skin’s surface, not from the root bed.

After waxing a slight redness occurs for a couple of hours, not the itchy rash that occurs after shaving, that can last until the next shave!

Waxing has the added advantage of giving an exfoliating effect, therefore giving a nice healthy sheen to the skin.

PLEASE NOTE
If you have been shaving or using depilatory creams you will need to allow 2 weeks hair growth before waxing can commence. As your hair growth becomes weaker with each treatment, I tend to advise my clients to begin waxing in the winter months when the hair growth is covered by more clothing. If waxing is required for a holiday, I advise my clients, where possible to have at least two wax treatments before the holiday time - again so the routine becomes easier. However, in reality waxing may start at any time of the year.
