Reiki
JUST FOR TODAY...
DO NOT GET ANGRY • DO NOT WORRY • BE GRATEFUL • WORK HARD AND
BE KIND TO OTHERS
These are the five Reiki principles, which seem to have originated
from a Buddhist influence and added to the Reiki practice, by Mikao
Usui and should be followed as often as is possible. With regular
practice they will become easier to remember and therefore easier
to practice.
What is Reiki?
Over 100 years ago a man called Mikao Usui discovered Reiki as
a form of healing and spiritual awakening. To be able to practice
Reiki special ‘Initiations’ have to take place through
a Reiki Master, who will teach and explain the methods used.
The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ is translated into ‘Universal
Life Force’. By using this universal energy in the correct
manner an individual has the ability to restore harmony and wholeness
in their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs.
Reiki, when used correctly may promote self-healing within your
body, improve your personal development and encourage spiritual discipline,
bringing in positive energy for a more fulfilling and exciting experience
to your life.
What does a Reiki session involve?
Peace and Harmony! On arrival to my treatment room you will be encouraged
to relax on my therapy couch, whilst listening to soothing music.
We will complete a thorough medical history (if it is your first appointment)
to assess your needs and establish any issues that might be inhibiting
your health. This normally takes between 15-30 minutes. There are very
few contra-indications with Reiki as it is a completely non-invasive
therapy. After the consultation I will ask you to lie down comfortably
(no clothing except shoes need to be removed) and will cover you
with a warm blanket. Although Reiki works well during chat, I encourage
silence during a treatment as I feel it becomes more focused. I start
your Reiki session by placing my hands gently on your chest; I will
then continue to move around your body, placing my hands on your
head, following onto your stomach and pelvic regions, then down your
legs to your feet. I will finish by coming back up to your chest;
you will then know that your session is complete. It is difficult
to tell exactly what you might feel during the treatment as we are
all individuals and at each treatment a different experience is observed.
These could be in the form of my hands becoming warm or cold, a tingling
or wave like motion could be felt, colours are sometimes seen and
others experience nothing at all except quietness. You should however
be left with a feeling of being refreshed and energised.
What ailments can Reiki assist with?
Here are just a few examples. Reiki really can be worked on any
ailment and improvement is often seen. Reiki may also be practiced
on animals, plants, negative energy in rooms, distance healing may
be practiced. The list is endless. Reiki brings positive energy to
where it is needed and will follow its own path.
Emotional Issues (past or present), Stress, Insomnia, Joint Pains, DepressionNegative Thinking, IBS and Digestive Problems, Mind and Body Detoxing.
