What is a Life Coach?
A Life Coach is a person who will support and encourage you to gain maximum growth
in both your personal and or your professional life. A Life Coach is a support,
who will listen and encourage you to address issues that may be in need of a shake-up, someone who will allow you to express your own desires, without being prejudice
or judgmental. A Life Coach will understand that many people have barriers to
cross, many of which will be awkward and will almost certainly bring change.
We understand that changes are scary‚ and that very often the reason
for not achieving our ambitions is the fear of advancing from our comfort zones.
A Life Coach will enable you to have the courage and the strength to overcome
your fears and aid you in the transactions of these changes, which will allow
you to improve the quality of your life and in turn your happiness.
Why a Life Coach, not a Counsellor or Therapy?
What is the difference?
A Life Coach will help you identify the areas of your life that you have become
stuck in and what it is that you would like to achieve. They will help you to
find what your obstacles or barriers are that could be in the way of you moving
on to a better place, giving you positive feedback and encouragement a well as
helping you to set some realistic goals to reach this place. Life Coaching will
look at your life, considering all aspects of your mind, body and spiritual needs.
There is no reason to look back at the past - a healthy fulfilling future is
what we aim to achieve.
A Counsellor is a person who will help you to overcome a specific traumatic event,
that might have recently happened or that you have been holding onto for many
years. A Life Coach may help you to identify these issues and refer you onto
a Counsellor. These issues may need to be addressed before you find the courage
to move forward. It could be that these issues are the barriers to you moving
forward in your life. Life Coaching may be resumed after the counselling sessions
have been completed.
A Therapist gives a similar session to a Counsellor giving aid and support to
a specific matter, counselling and therapy work are often used in conjunction
with each other. In Life Coaching it is the client who is encouraged to be the
active participant in their own goal setting - the Life Coach will assist with
encouragement and keep you on track with your set goals.
What is involved in Life Coaching sessions?
Initially we sit together and discuss what it is that you would like to achieve from
your life. We will establish the importance of these changes and what you feel
may be preventing you from moving on. Once you have told me what you would like
to achieve, with my encouragement, you will set yourself some small goals (with
a longer goal plan to aim towards) which will need to be followed through and
discussed on a regular basis.
Normally I see my clients on a one-to-one strictly confidential basis for approx
6-12 weeks, each session lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour. In this time, with your total
commitment, I would expect you to be moving forward towards success and contentment,
with the knowledge that you have learnt how to take on new challenges in your
life, with passion, commitment and strength, and the ability to know that you
can pull on these resources for the rest of your life. Take that first step of
courage NOW! Contact your friendly Life Coach - Nicci - for positive encouragement.
